Here in Manila, although we were not able to witness the Total Lunar Eclipse that happened between September 27 and September 28, I am still over the moon knowing about this event. I still feel so excited!

Blood Moon Eclipse are rare. The last Super Full Moon was witnessed in 1982. I was not yet born that time. And this Super Full Moon eclipse will not happen again until October 8, 2033. That’s 18 years from now! wow! People in eastern and central areas of the United States and Canada are so lucky to have the best views of the moon. I wonder how that feels. As for me, I don’t even had a glimpse of the moon tonight. It has been cloudy in Manila with light rains and wind since yesterday. However, inspiration is inspiration! My art before bedtime is Supermoon inspired.

Explore: Book Cover As Canvas

photo 3

“With color, for the price of a pot of paint, people can express their own style and individuality. But as with style, a gift for color has to be developed by experiment. If you don’t dare, you are doomed to dullness.” –Shirley Conran

Today I have been reading, The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday. But this article will not be a review of the writings but thoughts and a mini project I did on the physical book itself. Just so you know.

To begin, its size is about 6″ x 5.”  For me, it is smaller than the common books I have right now. It is hard bound. And has a sleeve that serves as the cover of the book and the main book cover design.

When I read books with sleeves, I don’t know about you, but to me it gets uncomfortable especially when the sleeve started to misaligned with the hard cover. And so, usually I would remove temporarily the book sleeve and set it aside as I continue and enjoy reading. Anyhow, suddenly, an idea dawned at me some time today. I noticed that the hard cover is plain. It was not the same as the book sleeve’s design. And because it was so plain, I thought of making it not plain😊 I thought, I’ll make an art on this cover. I’ll make this my canvas today. I also thought of doing it in all my hard bound books that I have that is plain! Hmmm!

The art above is created using the said book. I set my time for fifteen minutes and started working on it. At first I thought I would be painting a face on this, but then I just let it be it. Like that. I loved it!

I used matte acrylic craft paints, some posca paint pens, gel pens in metallic, neon and black and that’s it. I scraped paint over some initial doodles. Made simple marks and doodled again and again. I have always been drawn to botanicals and so some botanical line works. Also added some geometric shapes inspired especially by Lisa Congdon.

For me this exercise will be a good practice to experiment, explore and just being loose in creating a piece of art. It will also be a surprise to you or to that someone to whom you will lend the book or give the book one day. Oh! I feel happy just thinking about that! Who knows that surprise, unraveling the piece of art on the book cover beneath the book sleeve might awaken and/or tap on someone else’s inner child upon seeing it.

15 Minute Practice||Osho

Last night’s fifteen-minute-practice for the 15 Minutes Faces project. Last night at my parent’s home. Last night with my sisters around. Last night on this round yellow rattan table. Last night over some water and crunchy cookies. Last night just being loose. Last night practicing letting go. Last night with my non-dominant hand. Last night using blue Col-erase pencil, 0.8 Artline felt tip pen, and 4.0 Artline calligraphy pen. Last night the practice continues.

Here’s a book by Osho. Part of the series, Insights for a New Way of Living. I’m glad to have found this book. Had a glimpse of this on the highest part of the bookshelf while wasting some time in a second hand bookstore. Seeing the word ‘Joy’ in it, I cannot help but check it out. When I saw the entire book cover, I know this book I have to take home with me. So I did. Later on I found out that the painting in the cover was painted by the author. The more I loved the book. Anyway, if you loved the book, New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, then maybe you will love this book too. I think this series of books are part of its predecessor. Osho’s insights are bold. It is straightforward and challenges the way you think, the way you live and your beliefs. Recommended reading for spirituality, conscious living, awareness and the likes.

Ninety-nine on the Ninety-ninth

“Whatever you can do or dream, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” –Goethe

Earlier this year I worked on my Shining Year workbook by Leonie Dawson. Part of the exercises was to list a 100 Things to Do in 2015. By March, I was able to write 98 things. Today, I just wrote the 99th thing I wanted to do before the year ends. Today, with 99 days left for this year. It was a coincidence really.

Yesterday, when I was writing about the things I wanted to accomplish for the last 100 days of the year, I thought of my workbook, especially this very part. Thinking all the time that I have 99 things listed out of the one hundred. But today as I checked my list, I found 98 only. Then I thought, what about the idea I have in mind, to write about the 99 things that I thought I have listed? What now?

However, by looking at the situation in another angle, I should say, it turned out much better than what I thought it would be. Weee!

And so my 99th thing to do is, to check this list every single day for the rest of the year and at least check one off of it. In order to accomplish this goal, I have to:

  • commit to checking the list every single day starting today
  • select one thing to do and create an action plan on how it can be done
  • schedule it
  • and finally, TAKE ACTION

Taking action is the key.

By the end of the year or before the year end, I will update you on my progress 🙂 I may or may not check all of my to-do list, but still, I must at least, have made my first step or have laid the steps on how I can accomplish per goal before the end of the year. Of course, it will depend on the weight of my goal.

And speaking of the list, as I reviewed and checked today, I was able to mark done and still on-going (because some of the goals are daily commitment) thirty-one things from it! I was surprised and felt really happy! Isn’t that amazing! Yay!

How about you? What do you plan to do today? What small step can you make to accomplish that goal you have been yearning to do or be? Share it. Share it in the comments below or share it to someone you can trust your stories to of dreaming big. Let’s go! Let’s do this together!

Grateful for Wednesdays|Last 100 Days of 2015

“Gratitude is the heart’s memory.” –French Proverb

5 of the Thousand Things I Am Grateful for Today:

  • for Marie Forleo’s inspiring interview with Elizabeth Gilbert for Big Magic.
  • for learning about the Big Magic podcast while looking up at Big Magic book photos at Instagram. I loved all the interviews but especially loved Brene Brown’s. I was just so happy to know that Liz interviewed her and they are great friends 🙂 That was the first interview I listened too by the way 🙂
  • for the entertaining-curious-cat friends I have.
  • for the Studying Under the Masters e-course, an eye-opener.
  • for my new budding Zamioculcas Zamia(ZZ Plant) at my creative table.

Last 100 Days of Year 2015

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” –Psalm 90:12; Bible, Sacred Scriptures of Christians and Judaism

“Life is short. Our days are numbered. Our lives are limited. Life can pass extremely fast.” –Robert D. Smith

This morning as I checked my email, I’m glad to found Dawn Z Bournand’s newsletter entitled, “Life is Good, Make It Even Better – 100 Da…” It was cut like that because I was viewing it using a tab. I was curious, opened it and found out today marks the first of the last 100 days of the year.

I don’t know, but numbers has a certain pull in me. Maybe it is because everyday of our lives we encounter numbers. Our lives here on earth is based on numbers, time is numbered, dates are numbered, when we buy something it involves numbers, etc. Sometimes we are just too tired or we had just enough of it, the numbers that can be associated with us. May it be financial, age, date, height, weight, what not. Because many of us, unconsciously, associated numbers with negativity where many of our limiting beliefs were rooted.

But the good news is that we can unlearn the limiting beliefs we have with numbers and use it instead as a tool to move forward, dream big big, take action and make everyday of our precious lives count.

By looking at numbers in a whole new way.

Yes. Just like that.

And by seeing numbers in a positive and helpful way. With a gratitude attitude, numbers can be our greatest ally to create the life we love and want now.

That’s why I am so excited because:

  • I found out about that today marks the last 100 days of the year. Because usually my 100 days count is the 100 days before Christmas 😀
  • I am energized to make these last 100 days an action-packed days/productive days
  • I know there are people somewhere out there that is just like me, counting the last days of 2015 by taking action each day for 100 days to do something or give time for that something that really matters to me, doing something I really love to do.

At the same time scared because:

  • my 99 things to-do-list for the year is not yet half-way checked
  • there are so many things I wanted to do
  • I have online courses that has not finished yet and some not even started
  • and so on

But then again I will remember to:

  • slow down
  • go gently
  • remember this is not a race. Reminds me of this,“it is not a sprint. it is a marathon.”
  • honor rest, have at least 7 hours sleep every night

And so I will.

Anyways, these might be of help to you and guide you with your last 100 days:

Roa’s heArt

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.” –Helen Keller

“Our aspirations are our possibilities.” –Samuel  Johnson

We just like to make things and so Roa’s heArt was born. A shop that sells arty handmade products designed and created by me and my siblings. Today we launched at 98B Future Market at Escolta, Manila. This is our very first time to join in an art market/bazaar. It feels so good to be with my sisters because it takes away the seriousness + nervousness of first times. Actually, we really had a great time eating packed breakfast on site before the set up, during the set up, and as buyers starts coming in. It was as if we are already used to these things😊 We got accustomed with the place, the scene, the people, the market right away! Who knows, maybe we were born for this😊

The first time we sold a product, we were blown away. We were there with big hope-full hearts to share joy, love and meaning through our products. And it just feels so good that someone loved and bought our handmade goods. And then another one. And another one.

So I guess, this is just the beginning of another artventure with my best friends forever!
